The one-day ALS1 ARC accredited course covers advanced life support training specifically designed for healthcare personnel who require more advanced skills than those taught in a basic life support course.

Description

Team Scenario 

This course will provide participants with the skills for managing a cardiac arrest or other medical emergencies in a clinical setting until the arrival of a resuscitation team or paramedics.

The course covers recognition of the critically ill patient, airway management, resuscitation procedures, defibrillation, Anaphylaxis, Cardiac Rhythm Recognition and basic resuscitation drug therapy. Assessment is continuous throughout the course.

Prerequisites

Recent employment in a clinical environment is preferred and knowledge of current Basic Life Support guidelines.

Whats Included

  • Full day teaching by an accredited Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support instructor
  • Small group teaching – 6 people
  • Manual – Advanced Life Support Level 1. Third Australian Edition. Pre-reading is received via express post 2 weeks prior to the course date unless pick-up from our Osborne Park office has been arranged.
  • ARC registration providing recognition throughout Australia & UK valid for 4 years
  • Hands on skills & cardiac arrest scenario practice with an adult-sized defibrillatable manikin
  • Morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch will be provided.

  • ACRRM: 22 PDP, 2 ESP, 10 ALS & 1 Day EM or Anaesthetics Procedural Grant
  • NMBA: 12 CPD points for nurses and midwives
