Paediatric Advanced Life Support
**This is not the nationally accredited APLS course.** The one-day Paediatric Advanced Life Support course aims to provide healthcare professionals who have expertise in fields other than paediatrics but are occasionally tasked with attending to a sick child in a pre-hospital or clinical setting. These situations necessitate enhanced skills and self-assurance, prompting the need for additional training.
Description
The course covers recognition of the seriously ill paediatric patient using a systematic assessment approach, airway management, resuscitation procedures, defibrillation and basic drug therapy. The teaching will provide participants with the skills to manage the paediatric patient in cardiopulmonary arrest until arrival of a resuscitation team or paramedics.
All instruction is conducted by ARC accredited Advanced Life Support instructors according to current ARC guidelines.
